Brrrrrrrrrr! It is sooo cold outside! Okay, I will admit it. I am such a big wimp when it comes to the freezing cold. In these cold winter months, I love to pour my favorite wine with friends and cook a delicious, hearty meal. I also enjoy listening to conversations while the fireplace is crackling through the evening. Although there are no rules about what to drink when temperatures plummet, fuller-bodied reds and fortified wines are a perfect choice to get you through this extreme winter. Here are a couple of my suggestions.
Graham’s Six Grapes Reserve Port
A fortified wine perfect for a lazy winter getaway, it’s guaranteed to warm you right up on the sky slopes. It’s sweet and full bodied with rich black fruit. This wine pairs deliciously with chocolate dessert and strong cheeses, especially blue cheese. It’s also a perfect choice for an outside bonfire.
Moss Roxx, Ancient Vine Reserve Zinfandel 2013
I love this wine! It’s a spicy, delicious Red Zinfandel from Lodi, California. It expresses lots of raspberry and chocolate flavors, ending with a delightful silky finish.
Rack & Barrel, Bourbon Barrel Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
New at Nino’s! Whether you’re a bourbon lover or a wine lover, you have to try this. Aged in Kentucky Bourbon Barrels, it features a bourbon oak flavor, with toffee and vanilla on the finish.
Have fun and stay warm!
Cheers,
Simone
