Tailgate Parties!!!
Sometimes it seems that tailgating at sporting events is bigger than the games themselves. It’s the tradition, and the preparation by friends and family for generations, of supporting their teams. Tailgating has become a competition. Everyone is taking it to the next level with all the amazing food. What better way to start off a tailgate party than with a delicious Bloody Mary? I love a Bloody Mary. It’s definitely a morning eye opener for getting the party going or also for nursing a hangover. It’s a great adult beverage and a way to get your nutrients for the day, especially if you are starting early. Here are a few ideas to get you started.
Basil Hayden Bloody Mary
1 Lime Wedge
Celery Salt
1.5 oz. Basil Hayden Bourbon
2 dashes Hot Sauce
2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
1 tsp. Wasabi Tomato Juice
Garnish with celery stalk, lime wedge, and blue cheese stuffed olives.
Rub the lime wedge around the rim of a pint glass and coat with celery salt. Fill with ice, and add 2 dashes of celery salt and the remaining ingredients except the tomato juice. Fill with tomato juice, stir well and garnish.
Classic McClure’s Bloody Mary
3 oz. McClure’s Bloody Mary mix
1.5 oz. Valentine vodka
Garnish with a McClure’s pickle
Directions:
Combine all ingredients, stir, and serve over ice.
The foods are the celebrities at most tailgate parties, but I hope these suggestions will add to the fun and make for a great event and day.
As always,
Cheers!
