My goodness, are we really at the end of July? So much of the summer has gone by us already, from Memorial Day Weekend to Fourth of July. Where is my summer going?

And it is definitely a hot one today. My poor flowers were screaming at me for water when I got home from work. I was watching the weather this morning, and they are predicting a long, hot, extended summer for us here in the Midwest. I am not complaining, though. It sure beats the cold winters we get in Michigan by a long shot.

So, it’s Friday night, you have worked all day, and you are ready to wind down and start your weekend, right? Well, let me help you choose some cool summer wine from our large selection here at Nino’s.

Here are some of my favorite summer picks.

Gerard Bertrand Cote des Roses-2013- $16.99

Opening up this delicious bottle of Rose can be a special treat. Everybody will thank you when they taste this pale pink, fresh, fruity Rose from the Languedoc Roussillon region of France. It’s made with grenache, cinsault and syrah grapes. In my opinion, it’s the ultimate summer wine.

Baron-Fuente Champagne Grand Reserve Brut- $31.99

I was introduced to this Champagne at a wine tasting a couple of years ago, and it totally took my breath away. It has great balance, with flavors of apple, peach and pear, ending with a honeyed finish. It can pair well with light summer foods like oysters and smoked salmon.

Baron-Fuente

Mont Gravet- 2015- $8.99

From the Gascony region of South West France and made from 100% Colombard grapes, it’s dry and crisp with citrus fruits. This is a perfect summer wine for picnics or a ride on the boat with a fresh baguette and some creamy brie.

Make the most of your summer, and enjoy!
