Skip the Loud and Busy Restaurant Scene for a Romantic Meal at Home
By Chef Jacqueline Keller
Cooking for someone is a love language, or at least it should be. Here at Nino’s we think there is no better way to tell someone you care than making them a wonderful meal. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, if you’re still trying to figure out how to express your feelings to your significant other consider flooring them these recipes. Whether this is your first Valentine’s Day together or one of many, make this year stand out.
Restaurants are booked, understaffed and just so crowded for holidays that are supposed to be romantic! If you’re looking to skip the overrated hubbub of a busy and public atmosphere, or you forgot to make reservations and it’s now too late, Nino’s has everything you need to make the day special. With their favorite flowers from our floral shop, a visit with one of the skilled sommeliers in the wine department and the ingredients listed for the four recipes below, light some candles, and watch the sparks fly. Oh, and don’t forget the chocolate covered strawberries of course! Enjoy the recipes:
Whole Roasted Garlic Parmesan Potatoes
This recipe is almost as simple as making a baked potato.. but looks and tastes so much better! With a crispy top and soft and cheesy inside these potatoes are the perfect starch to almost any meal. You can skip the garlic if you’re worried about your breath on a date.. but we think that’s what mints are for.
Pan Seared Jumbo Sea Scallops with Orange and Fennel
Scallops done right can be the absolute best form of seafood. However, most home cooks find them so intimidating! Following these simple directions will give you a restaurant worthy dish in the comfort of your own kitchen.
Pan Seared Filet with Garlic and Rosemary Butter
Freezing outside while grilling in a Michigan February is not romantic! Especially if you drag the dirty snow and mud into the house on your shoes and smell like charcoal smoke. Skip the outdoors and cook your steak in a pan instead! What is romantic? Basting your steak with butter and looking like one of those TV chefs.
Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Shallot
What was once considered to be an outdated vegetable has found new life over the past several years. These Brussel Sprouts are so simple to make while looking like you put a lot of work into them.
