As a foodies, it’s always a thrill for our team to roll up their sleeves and create special recipes for Nino’s.
Going back many years now, we’ve had the opportunity to create hundreds of delicious recipes for salads, salad dressings, specialty produce, appetizers, entrees, soups, sauces, marinates, breads, desserts and, well, for just about every edible food category you can think of.
There’s nothing more satisfying than to see one of our culinary creations being enjoyed by our Nino customers. It’s especially gratifying when we’re holding one of our weekend demo samplings because we have the chance to meet and greet so many great people who enjoy our products.
Case in point, our very own Northern Smoke Barbecue Sauces.
Nino’s Northern Smoke Barbecue Sauces were born from our long-time passion to introduce an exceptionally high quality (and authentic) barbecue experience to our marketplace.
But while barbecue requires fabulous meats (which we have plenty), it also requires fabulous sauces, so we rolled up our Chef coat sleeves and went to work.

Our full line of Northern Smoke foods are not to be missed.
In America, barbecue sauce taste preferences are somewhat regional, yet Southeast Michigan is rather culturally diverse so it made sense to have our Northern Smoke brand represent the three most popular (and iconic) barbecue flavors and regions.
We chose Kansas City, Missouri; Memphis, Tennessee; and the Carolinas, all “classic” barbecue hot-beds.
Most “northerners” prefer their barbecue sauce to be on the sweet and smoky side, which is broadly considered to be Kansas City style. Our Northern Smoke version, called Sweet & Smoky “The Kansas City Classic”, also adds an extra touch of smoke and spice.
If you like a more “tomato forward” style of barbecue sauce with your sweetness coming from brown sugar and honey rather than molasses, our Brown Sugar & Honey, “The Memphis Classic” may be your new favorite barbecue companion.
The Carolinas are completely unique. Besides enjoying the traditional tomato based sauces, they decided to break the mold and enjoy two completely different barbecue sauces, one a spicy vinegar “dressing”, the other, a mustard based sauce which goes exceptionally well with pulled pork. To please all who enjoy a taste of the south, I created our Mustard & Molasses “The Carolina Classic” sauce which in addition to its tangy mustard also has a sweet and spicy finish.
Unlike many of the new “signature” barbecue sauces from celebrity Chef’s and “pit masters” our bottles of Northern Smoke are very reasonably priced. In addition, look for them to be featured in our weekly Marketplace Special and Fresh Rewards ads.
Perhaps one of the best ways to enjoy our Northern Smoke Barbecue Sauces is on Baby Back Ribs. Here a little history about these babies: CLICK HERE.
