Hosting a St. Patrick’s Day party this year? Looking for some new and flavorful cocktails to serve? Serving Bailey’s with coffee or Irish Mist on the rocks is standard, but how do you set your party apart? Well, look no further, because we have whipped up some easy and delicious libations that will bring your party the luck of the Irish!
Green Mini Beers
One of the top-selling liquors in the country right now is Licor 43. It’s sweet, with notes of vanilla, and its success is due, in part, to the very popular and very cute shot: the Mini Beer.
2 oz. Licor 43
1 oz. Heavy Cream, poured slowly over top
This shooter is simple and easy, so why not try some variations, such as green crème de Menthe or Midori instead of Licor 43? How about having it as a Jell-O shot, made with lime Jell-O, citrus vodka and whipped cream on top?
Over the Rainbow Martini
There’s a sweet golden treat at the end of this rainbow!
1 oz. Pinnacle Cake Vodka
1 oz. Cruzan Coconut Rum
2 oz. Pineapple Juice
Shaken and served in a martini glass rimmed with rainbow-colored sprinkles
Leprechaun’s Gold
Looking for something a little less sweet? Try this fizzy mix!
2 oz. Jameson’s Irish Whisky
3 oz. Vernor’s Ginger Ale (Canada Dry for something a bit less sweet)
Squeeze of Lime
Serve in a highball glass rimmed with green sugar and a lime wheel.
Black Velvet
This classic cocktail uses Guinness, Ireland’s favorite stout.
5 oz. Guinness
5 oz. Champagne
Chill the Guinness and the champagne. Pour the wine into a Champagne flute first, allow it to settle for a moment, and then carefully float the Guinness on top. Pour the stout slowly so that the two do not mix, and try to keep foaming to a minimum. It’s tricky but delicious!
Traditionally, you can also make this drink with a less-expensive hard cider in place of the pricier Champagne. For this variation, pour the cider first, Guinness second. This is known as a “Poor Man’s Black Velvet.”
In both cases, draught cans of Guinness work best.
Long Isles Ice Tea
An emerald play on the classic Long Island Ice Tea
½ oz. Vodka
½ oz. Rum
½ oz. Irish Whisky
½ oz. Gin
½ oz. Triple Sec
½ oz. Midori Melon Liqueur
Shake all ingredients except Midori.
Pour into a Pilsner glass and add Midori over top.
All of these cocktails are fun, easy, and flavorful. So whichever way you decide to celebrate this Irish holiday, be sure to stay safe, get a driver, and try something new!
